About Ishigakiya

The construction of Ishigakiya, built with 300-year-old Yoshino cedar wood and Ryukyu roof tiles, a type of roof tile traditionally used on this island, creates a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
Here you can sit around the hearth and enjoy delicious dishes of top-quality beef from Japanese Black cattle to your heart’s content.
Please enjoy our excellent dishes of locally-grown beef, chicken, and vegetables served in selected ware dishes and bowls.

We have not only a large dining hall but also elegant private rooms suitable for families to large groups.
Please don’t miss the beautiful Chagall print as well.

The History of Ishigakiya

When we first came to Ishigaki Island around 1989, there were pineapple and sugar cane fields as far as we could see. The sky and the sea were as blue as could be, and we felt like we were in a world without sound.
We couldn’t believe that such a wonderful place still remained in Japan, and were fascinated by the charms of this island. As we visited here over the next decade, however, we witnessed the scenery of sugar cane and pineapple fields changing into pastures.
In January 2001, we decided to open the island’s first authentic yakiniku restaurant on a suggestion from JA.
We built the restaurant with wood brought from our hometown in Yoshino as well as with Ryukyu roof tiles, to create a place where we can entertain both local people on the island and tourists who are sightseeing here.

Please visit us to enjoy the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere as well as our delicious meat dishes.
